Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado, is a dynamic, family-like parish which offers Holy Mass according to the 1962 Missal, providing unapologetically traditional Catholic catechesis in English and Spanish, for local and military families in the heart of Colorado.
Our parish began as a small group of parishioners from the St. Mary's Cathedral in Colorado Springs, who in the 1980s, petitioned to have the Tridentine Mass celebrated within the then newly-formed Diocese of Colorado Springs. With the cooperation of Bishop Richard Hanifen, this Mass was celebrated at St. Mary's Cathedral in what is considered the first time such a Mass was celebrated in any U.S. Cathedral since 1970.
At first, the Tridentine Mass was celebrated only a few times a month by a retired diocesan priest, Fr. Rawley Myers, but as attendance grew, the bishop granted permission for it to be celebrated weekly and in 2001 the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter sent us Fr. Thomas Fritschen to be our chaplain. Renovations at the cathedral prevented our continuing to worship there, and we made a temporary home sharing the chapel of the former local parish of St. Joseph's in Fountain, Colorado.
In 2006, we purchased a Protestant church building in Security, Colorado with the help of the diocese, and began extensive renovations and repairs. Bishop Michael J. Sheridan blessed the chapel in May, 2006, and we finally had a place to call home. In 2008, Fr. Stéphàne Dupré, FSSP, was assigned to our parish, and Bishop Sheridan elevated Immaculate Conception to the status of a personal parish.
Fr. James Gordon, FSSP, assigned in 2014, is our third and current pastor. In July 2026 we hope to be moving to our new home at the former Our Lady of Guadalupe church building at the corner of Pikes Peak Ave. and Circle Blvd. in Colorado Springs.
